What can I expect from an interior stylist?

Very simplistically:

Interior Design…includes a lot of the stuff that would stay if you moved house.

Interior Styling…is mostly the stuff that would move with you!

Don’t take that as gospel - an interior designer will find you a great sofa and an interior stylist will source you the perfect zellige tile - but, in a nutshell, that’s how I like to break it down. Interior styling is a more affordable, accessible and less invasive way of creating a room that you love. The results can be much quicker to achieve and the investments you make can last a lifetime. Alongside the more permanent side of decoration (which we also do!), such as paint, tiles and flooring, it can be employed when you have a shell of a new space that doesn’t quite feel like a home, or utilised to breathe life into tired rooms that have lost their purpose.

Sourced well, lighting, furniture, textiles, art, books and decorative objects have the potential to be lived with and loved for all of your life. To later be coveted by kids as they depart for an unfurnished university dorm, or passed on when the time comes to downsize. They bring personality to your house; and are the things that best reflect the people who live there.

In short, interior styling is the stuff that makes a house a home.

How your home makes you feel matters. So fill it with things you love, that stand the test of time and help you express your personality.

Say hello…

Nicky Guymer

I cut my teeth working for some of the world’s top interiors magazines and interiors photographers as an interior stylist. My previous home featured in magazines from the UK to Australia and online at the eponymous Design*Sponge (RIP!), causing it to go viral on Pinterest, and resulting in it being used as a location for TV commercials. I have written and styled for the UK home retailer Habitat (in its pre-supermarket-owned heyday), have been a regular contributor to media outlets such as The Journal @ Mr Porter and have worked as the deputy editor of 91 Magazine.

My private residential styling allows me to bring my skill and experience to create beautiful, lived-in homes filled with curated products, useful items and loved heirlooms.

Originally based in London, 2024 has seen the launch of Heath + Down to reflect my move to East Sussex; working in the area that spans the heathlands of Ashdown Forest and the North and South Downs that connect the capital city to the sea.
